Know the Difference Between Your Coffee Roasts

Know the difference between coffee roasts

Has this ever happened to you? I walk up to Starbucks or the coffee machine at work to choose my morning coffee only to have anxiety build up over the amount of choices. Who knew there were so many kinds of coffee roasts? And what’s the difference between a light roast vs. a dark roast, other than color? Eventually, I just give in because I’m panicking and there’s a line forming behind me.  Forget that it’s early in the morning and I can’t think straight without my coffee.

Trust me, there is no better way to ruin your morning that a bad cup of coffee. After one sip, I instantly regret my decision and instead of throwing the drink down the drain, I sip through it. If only I knew the difference between coffee roasts and be better equipped to make these decisions.

A Book Club that You Might Actually Follow

I have been friends with Levi for years and recently, we’ve both reignited our love for reading. I truly enjoy when we catch up and the conversations turn to the books we’ve recently read and learned from.

What I’ve come to learn from Levi is that when we read more, we speak more fluently and write more clearly. My main goal from this blog was to become a better writer and step #1 is to read more. This sounds easy is theory until you’ve been reading a book for weeks or months on end. I wanted someone to keep me accountable and to expand the type of books I read.

My Year as a Dog Sitter

This month marks my one year anniversary as a dog sitter! I can’t believe one year has come and gone along with all the wonderful people and dogs I’ve met. I’ve turned my passion for animals into a side hustle that works for me.

I was hesitant to become a dog sitter until I met Shawna. Shawna had been dog sitting for years; all of her clients came from referrals alone. That’s very impressive considering she was dog sitting at least 2 times a month! We already shared a love for animals so her side hustle made me curious. After watching her dog sit and hearing about her previous clients, I decided to give it a whirl.

White Wine Basics

Wine grapes

This has all happened to us: we’re excited to start trying wine and walk down the wine aisle only to realize we have no idea what we’re doing. I’m here to help! Some liquor stores have rows with multiple shelves full of wine bottles. It’s easy to get lost and lose your determination. That’s why I’ve created a guide for you to take with you while you shop for white wine. See below.

Wine: Get to Know the Basics

My favorite alcoholic drink is wine. Hands down. I get all giddy when I have a full-blown conversation with anyone who even has a slight interest in wine. Ever since I worked as a server in an Italian restaurant, my love for wine has grown exponentially. The other night, I was having a talk with my boyfriend’s dad about wine. He admitted he always wanted to get more into wine but he didn’t know much about it. Little did he know, he was talking to someone who loves for wine!

Change Your Mind

One morning I woke up with a strong urge for a cup of coffee. Let me rephrase that. I wanted to wake up with coffee in hand. As I made my way to brew a pot, there was none left. Not only did my boyfriend use up all of our grounds, he didn’t replace them. Frustrating, right?

Music is a living, breathing thing

While I was sitting in a coffee shop recently, I realized how much I loved the music playing. Coffee shops always seem to have the soft, relaxing music that helps me get work done or enjoy myself just hanging out with a friend. A song I love came on the radio and it made me think about how it seemed different from before. Somehow, this environment made me think about the song in a new light. Has that every happened to you?
